Dr. A. J. Stellon
Private GP, Primary Care Consultant, Acupuncturist, Hospital Endoscopist, Occupational Health Physician, Sports Physician.

Trained at the Royal Free Hospital, prior to deciding to become a GP, Dr. Stellon had ten years widespread medical experience including five years attached to the Liver Unit at King's College Hospital that included care of Liver Transplant patients, research of osteoporosis in liver disease and trials in patients with chronic active hepatitis.

Following further training in Paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and a year in General Practice Dr Stellon took up a GP post in the village of Temple Ewell on the outskirts of Dover where he currently practises.

In 1990 Dr. Stellon decided to enter the field of complementary medicine and trained in acupuncture. His initial course was in Southampton at the Complementary Medical Centre, where he trained in traditional acupuncture techniques. He has completed various post graduate courses and in 1995 was awarded a Diploma in Medical Acupuncture from the British Medical Acupuncture Society. In 1996-1998 he was on the British Medical Acupuncture Society Committee.

Dr. Stellon has been a guest speaker at various BMAS scientific meetings. Over the years he has written a number of medical papers on acupuncture in both hospital and primary care settings, which have been published in a variety of medical journals.

He has attended regular courses at the London Homoeopathic Hospital in the past in Homoeopathy and also a hypnotherapy course. He is committed to widening the public's knowledge of complementary medicine.

More recently, Dr. Stellon obtained the Diploma in Occupational Health and is currently approved to perform seafaring medicals for both the Marine Coastguard Agency(UK) and the Norwegian Maritime Medical Directorate.

A Football Association "Crowd Doctor Emergency Care Course" has recently been completed and a certificate obtained to state that the required level of competence had been achieved. He has been a Crowd Doctor for Gillingham Football Club.

Dr Stellon has obtained a Certificate in Sports Medicine at the Queen Mary University, London which was completed in June 2006.

Gary Smith
Chiropodist, Acupuncturist

Gary qualified in Manipulative Therapy in 1984 at the Guild School of Osteopathy in London and completed post graduate studies at the Guild School of Osteopathy, Oxford. Twelve years ago he developed an interest in acupuncture and has recently studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Southampton College of Alternative Medicine. He is a member of the Society of Private Chiropodists and Podiatrists after qualifying from the SMAE Institute in Maidenhead.

Over the past 12 years Gary has treated a wide variety of foot problems and, since joining The Abbey Practice ten years ago, has given chiropody to NHS patients in the practice . He also practices in Folkestone and Deal, offering a domiciliary service if needed.

Jacqueline Tall
Electrolysist, Beauty Therapist

Jacqueline Tall joined The Abbey Practice in 1996 to attend to the needs of patients seeking relief from the distressing problem of superfluous hair. She was born in East Kent and has worked as a beauty therapist in the area for many years, for the last 20 having had her own business in Deal. Jacqueline is a Fellow of the British Association of Electroloysists. She specialises in the removal of surplus hair. It was decided to offer beauty therapy as an option at the Practice as a result of patient demand.

 

Dr Ingrid Dodd

Medical Herbalist, Private GP

Dr Dodd trained as a doctor in London and qualified Guy's Hospital in 1975. She has worked as a General Practitioner in South East Kent for thirty years. Dr Dodd has also been a Ships Assistant Surgeon and has worked in the Department of Community Health in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. She is now an experienced Complementary Practitioner that practises Medical Herbalism and Hypnotherapy.

Over the recent years she has studied Homoeopathy at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital and is a member of the British Association of Medical & Dental Hypnotists.  More recently she has completed a course on Medical Herbalism and is a Member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. As such she can prepare individual herbal remedies as required by her patients.

 

Rosemary Heddle

Complementary Therapist

Rosemary Heddle is an experienced registered practitioner and Member of the British Complementary Association, The British Institute for Allergy and Environmental Therapists, a member of the Bioresonance Association and a member of Association of Reflexologists.

She has worked successfully from a clinic in Ashford for 20 years. Throughout this time she has achieved Diplomas in Anatomy, Physiology, Massage, Nutrition, Biocom Resonance Therapy and Reflexology. She specialises in treating children and adults who suffer from food or environmental intolerance with the help of the Vega testing method.
