Pre-employment Medical examinations
We conduct pre-employment medical examinations of all categories of staff to appropriate national and professional standards. Examinations undertaken at short notice and reports dispatched promptly
Drug & Alcohol Screening
We provide a drug and alcohol screening service for prospective and existing employees, with confidential reports dispatched promptly.
Insurance Medical Examinations & Reports
Insurance medical examinations conducted and reports dispatched within 48 hrs. for all categories of employees
Travel Vaccinations / Other Vaccinations
We provide a specialist travel vaccination service for employees visiting all parts of the world. The Abbey Practice is also a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. Preventative vaccinations are also available (Hep A / Hep B / Influenza).
Bespoke Medical Examinations
We provide a bespoke examination service to cater for all industrial and commercial medical requirements meeting the specialist standards demanded by individual professions.
Travel Health Information & Support Services
We provide a research and information service for employees travelling to all parts of the world. The service includes advice on the particular area to be visited including particular health dangers, medicines to take in advance and while abroad. We use the latest information available on all countries from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, World Health Organisation and other reputable agencies.
First Aid Training and Support
We provide basic and advanced First Aid training courses for employees, including the specialized requirements of individual industries, in compliance with HSE standards | |

| Yellow Fever Centre Vaccinations |
The Abbey Practice is a Yellow fever accredited centre for your yellow fever vaccinations. All seafarers and other workers that may have to visit Africa and parts of South America should consider this vaccination.
Appointments can be made by telephone at short notice. The cost of the vaccination has had to be increased from 1st January 2010 to £48-00, due to an increase in bureacracy, cost of vaccine and training. The cost includes the yellow fever certificate required for travelling to various countries. |
| | Taxi and HGV Medicals |
All Taxi and HGV medicals can be booked through the surgery at very short notice.
The cost for the Taxi medical currently is £40-00 and involves a more thorough medical than is required by the local authority.
The HGV Medical costs £50-00. If something is found at the medical you will be told and a note will be given to your GP should further tests be required.
A Diving medical currently is £36-00.
All the above medicals were increased on 1st January 2009 and will remain at this price until 1st June 2010.

Drug tests can be performed at the Practice to include cocaine, morphine, amphetamine, ecstasy, cannabinoids and benzodiazepines.

| | Eng1 - Seafaring Medicals |
Please note that from the 11th September 2006 the cost for these medicals has been increased, under the advice of the MCA, to up to £80.00 per medical .
As from 1st September 2002 all seafarers must provide identification of themselves when presenting at their Eng 1 medical examination. Identification either with your discharge book or passport will be mandatory unless you have your old Eng 1 certification.
Failure to do this will result in failure to issue an Eng 1 certificate.. | | |
